Learn about competition flying at Australia's best weekend paragliding competition, with a friendly atmosphere and realistic task setting. As some of Australia's top pilots are regular competitors, it's a great way to race in an informal setting while learning how best do it.
The Mystic cup is open to all Intermediate or Advanced HGFA licensed paraglider pilots with a minimum of 50 inland hours. In addition, to fly the Mystic Hill site you must be a current member of the NEVHGC (membership is available at The Outdoor Inn).
Entry is $5 per day.
Registration and briefing each day will be at 9am at The Outdoor Inn unless otherwise announced.
Please familiarise yourself with the no-landing zones.
The height restriction above Mystic is 10,000 feet or 3048 metres.
Nominal distance: 30 km
Minimum distance: 5 km
Nominal time: 90 minutes
Nominal percentage in goal: 20%
Fixed Total Validity (FTV): 50%
Scoring: OzGAP 2005
Fixed total validity scoring drops a percentage of the total available score (validity) for the competition and hence allows pilots to drop their worst performing days or not show for one or more days without being effectively removed from contention. However it does this by removing a percentage of the total available points for the competition rather than dropping individual days which would disadvantage pilots who did very well on a difficult, low scoring day. Thanks to the great efforts of Geoff Wong we're scoring the Mystic Cup online. This means that you can upload your track log (in IGC format) yourself and view provisional results at any time. Click on the Submit Track link to go to the web page to submit your track log.
Track logs may be downloaded from your GPS with CompeGPS or with one of these programs. If you'd prefer to have someone else download your GPS and submit your track log then there will be someone available at the Outdoor Inn after each event (Garmin GPSes with the round plug only unless you can supply a cable).
Track logs must be uploaded within 24 hours of the completion of the task. Also, just because you can upload your own track log it does not allow you to skip registration or sign in after the task. Pilots failing to register or pay will not be scored for the task. Pilots failing to sign in will be considered to be lost: a search will be started and you will not be scored for the task.
